Nagpur: A major counterfeit goods racket has come to light in Vidarbha, including Nagpur, after the crime branch busted two shops selling fake household cleaning products. The crackdown followed a complaint from a private company whose branded products were being illegally replicated and sold under fake labels.Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by assistant police inspector Mangala Harde raided a grocery store near Shiv Mandir in Ishwar Nagar on Thursday. The shop owner, Vijay Dhengare (60), was caught with 35 counterfeit bottles of toilet cleaner Harpic.Further investigation led officers to another store in Maskasath, where Brijlal Pahuja (49) was found stocking 153 fake Harpic bottles and 16 counterfeit Lizol bottles, all packaged to closely mimic the original brands. The total value of the seized fake products is estimated at ₹13,364.
