Capacity Building Programme for Police Officers on Prevention of Counterfeiting and Smuggling

The problem of counterfeiting and smuggling are major concerns that afflict our society, demanding the highest level of focus and importance from law enforcement authorities. It is imperative to consistently enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in comprehending the gravity of the issue and implementing essential measures against the culprits.
While adequate laws exist, their enforcement holds paramount significance in the battle against counterfeiting and smuggling. Consequently, police officers assume a pivotal role in combating these socio-economic dangers, which jeopardize both the economy and the well-being of individuals.
In this regard, FICCI CASCADE is organising a training program to sensitize the police officers in Kolkata on 12th November 2025. The aim of this programme is to combat the harmful effects of illicit trade in our society and help eradicate these dangerous parasites from our economy with the support of police officers.

The rapid growth of counterfeiting and smuggling poses a serious threat to India’s economy, industry, and public safety. These illicit practices distort fair competition, drain government revenues, and compromise consumer trust. Recognising the gravity of the issue, FICCI CASCADE underscores the need for continuous awareness, informed dialogue, and coordinated action to effectively combat these challenges and safeguard national interests
In pursuit of this mission, FICCI CASCADE is organising a seminar on the theme “Strengthening Security: Strategies to Combat Counterfeiting and Smuggling” on 13th November 2025 at The Park Hotel, Kolkata. The seminar will serve as a collaborative platform bringing together policymakers, enforcement agencies, industry leaders, legal experts, and consumer representatives. Discussions will focus on the economic, social, and health implications of illicit trade, while also exploring innovative solutions, capacity-building measures, and policy interventions to strengthen enforcement and compliance.
