Seminar on Illicit Trade: A Unified Approach to Counter Smuggling and Counterfeiting
Tuesday, 30th June 2026| Taj Vivanta, Hyderabad.
Illicit trade, encompassing both smuggling and counterfeiting, continues to pose a serious threat to economies, businesses, governments, and consumers worldwide. The widespread circulation of illicit goods not only results in significant revenue losses and market distortions but also exposes consumers to unsafe, substandard, and potentially harmful products. These activities undermine consumer confidence, weaken legitimate industries, compromise public health and safety, and create challenges for effective governance. Addressing this complex issue requires a unified and coordinated approach involving government agencies, industry, enforcement authorities, civil society, and consumers.
Recognizing the urgency of combating illicit trade, FICCI CASCADE has been at the forefront of creating awareness about the adverse economic, social, and security consequences of smuggling and counterfeiting in India and across the globe. To further strengthen collective efforts against this growing menace, FICCI CASCADE is organizing a seminar on “Illicit Trade: A Unified Approach to Counter Smuggling and Counterfeiting” on 30th June 2026 at Taj Vivanta, Hyderabad. The seminar will serve as a platform for policymakers, enforcement officials, industry leaders, consumer advocates, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on the evolving challenges posed by illicit trade and explore collaborative strategies to effectively address them.
The seminar will emphasize the importance of a unified response in tackling illicit trade through stronger enforcement mechanisms, enhanced regulatory frameworks, increased public awareness, and greater stakeholder collaboration. It will also highlight the critical role of informed and responsible consumers in preventing the demand for counterfeit and smuggled goods. By fostering dialogue, sharing best practices, and encouraging collective action, the initiative aims to strengthen efforts to curb illicit trade, protect consumer interests, safeguard public health and safety, and promote a fair, transparent, and resilient marketplace.
