Capacity Building Programme for Police Officers on Prevention of Counterfeiting and Smuggling
Focus State: Goa
Date: 2nd February 2026|10.30 am – 01.00 pm
Illicit trade is no longer confined to the shadows, it has become a sophisticated and global challenge that impacts communities at every level. The circulation of counterfeit goods, smuggled products, and unregulated commodities distorts legitimate markets, compromises public health and safety, and undermines the stability of economic systems. In a strategically located and economically vibrant state such as Goa, illicit trade has grown into a complex issue with implications that extend well beyond hidden or informal markets.
Addressing this complex challenge places law-enforcement agencies at the centre of the response. Police forces play a pivotal role in identifying, disrupting, and dismantling illegal supply chains. Their effectiveness depends on continuous capacity enhancement, access to updated intelligence, and exposure to modern investigative tools and techniques.
Recognising this imperative, FICCI CASCADE has been actively collaborating with enforcement agencies nationwide. Continuing this engagement, FICCI CASCADE is organising a capacity-building programme titled “Prevention of Counterfeiting and Smuggling” on 2nd February 2026 at GO’s Institute Hall, GRP Camp, Altinho, Panaji. The programme aims to deepen officers’ understanding of evolving illicit trade practices and provide practical, field-oriented approaches to tackle these offences more effectively.
This initiative reflects a collective commitment to building a safer and more transparent marketplace. By strengthening the skills and preparedness of the Goa Police, the programme seeks to reinforce the enforcement framework and enhance resilience against the increasingly sophisticated threats posed by illicit trade.
5th Edition Anti-Smuggling Day
11th February 2026, Wednesday | Le-Meridien, New Delhi
Smuggling remains a pervasive transnational challenge that severely undermines economic stability, national security, and legitimate trade. Despite sustained efforts by governments through strengthened border controls, regulatory interventions, and enhanced international cooperation, the evolving nature and resilience of smuggling networks continue to pose serious enforcement and policy challenges.
For more than a decade, FICCI CASCADE has been actively engaged in raising awareness about the threats of smuggling, highlighting its economic, social, and security implications both in India and globally. Recognizing the critical need for a coordinated international response, FICCI CASCADE took a pioneering initiative in 2022 by marking Anti-Smuggling Day on February 11. This observance seeks to enhance public understanding of smuggling, encourage global cooperation, and address its underlying causes, thereby galvanizing a sustained and unified effort against this persistent menace.
To further confront the persistent challenge of smuggling and strengthen our resolve to raise awareness, FICCI CASCADE is organising the 5th edition of Anti-Smuggling Day on 11th February 2026 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi. This day will bring together policymakers, law enforcement agencies, industry stakeholders, and experts to deliberate on innovative strategies, share best practices, and foster greater international collaboration in combating smuggling.
