Law enforcement agencies from 18 countries have seized over EUR 14 million in counterfeit currency in a joint customs and police operation, reported BTA, citing Europol. Most of the seized banknotes are in denominations of 50 and 20 euros and are prop money, often referred to as “movie money”. They are not full replicas of real banknotes. They have design deviations indicating that they are fake, and those distributing them do not face criminal liability.
The raids were conducted in Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Turkiye, France, Croatia, Czechia and the USA. Prop money can be ordered online or legally purchased in prop stores. Counterfeit US dollars and British pounds were also found during the special operation.

Three Arrested in Tripura for Counterfeit Currency Operations
Agartala: Police on Monday produced three youths before a local court at Kailashahar in Tripura’s Unakoti district, seeking their remand to investigate a counterfeit currency network operating within the state. The suspects, identified as Mihot Miah, Akhtar Ali, and Sayan Ali, all residents of the Babur Bazar area in Kailashahar, were apprehended on Sunday at Srinathpur.
The arrest took place following a covert operation by police from the Irani PS in Kailashahar, who set up a trap in the Srinathpur area to capture those suspected of involvement in a cross-border fake Indian currency racket. The accused were intercepted while traveling in an auto-rickshaw towards Kailashahar.

Bombay, Delhi HCs halt fake Skechers sales; 2,500 items seized in 3 cities
The Bombay and Delhi High Courts recently ordered a halt to the sale of counterfeit goods bearing American multinational footwear and apparel brand Skechers trademarks and directed the search and seizure of lookalike items.
Following the order, Skechers, with assistance from the police and duly appointed Court Receivers (by the Bombay High Court) and Local Commissioners (by the Delhi High Court), conducted search and seizure operations on October 26 at over 15 locations across three states—Nashik, Indore, and Delhi—seizing approximately 2,500 counterfeit items bearing various Skechers trademarks.

Illegal cigarettes worth Rs 50 lakh seized in Guntur
VIJAYAWADA: Officers from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) (Preventive) team in Guntur Commissionerate uncovered an illegal cigarette smuggling operation on Thursday, seizing Indian-made cigarettes worth Rs 50 lakh. Acting on specific intelligence, the Anti-evasion wing intercepted a vehicle at Nudurupadu village in Phirangapuram mandal. The accused were found transporting a large consignment of Indian-origin cigarettes, falsely declared on the invoice as safety matches valued at Rs 2.77 lakh. “Upon inspection, 46 poly bags containing 11.04 lakh cigarette sticks from brands like GTPL Step and Gold Vimal were found. The driver could not provide the required documentation,” said Guntur CGST Commissioner Sadhu Narasimha Reddy.
Four arrested with fake currency: Police
Jaipur, Oct 27 (PTI) Rajasthan Police has arrested four people for allegedly possessing fake currency notes in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, officials said.
The four, along with a minor, were held when they were travelling in a car with Madhya Pradesh number plate on Saturday night. Fake notes with face value of Rs 5,400 were found in their possession, they said.

Illegal unit making counterfeit cigarettes busted; cops seize stock, machine worth ₹5 crore
Navi Mumbai: The crime branch officials of the Raigad police on Thursday busted a makeshift unit that manufactured fake Gold Flake cigarettes in a Karjat farmhouse and arrested 15 men working at the site after seizing the stock and machinery worth ₹5 crore from the unit.
The police said they have launched a manhunt to trace the main accused, an Andhra Pradesh native, who had set up the unit. Based on a specific tip-off, the police team reached the farmhouse.

Perak Customs Dept seizes RM2.8mil worth of illicit liquor
IPOH: An attempt to smuggle liquor worth RM2.8mil into the country to avoid paying taxes was thwarted by the authorities recently.
The Perak Customs Department had seized the illicit hard liquor of various brands at three separate locations, one in Kuala Lumpur and two other raids conducted in Ipoh.

Hyderabad | ₹2.42 crore worth fake Apple products seized from Jagdish market
Four men from Jagdish Market, Abids in Hyderabad were caught selling fake Apple accessories by affixing the brand’s logos on the products. The gang was nabbed following a raid by the Central Zone Task Force team and the Abids Police.
Officials seized ₹2.42 crore worth of the counterfeit products from Nimb Singh, 25, Hira Ram, 24, Govind Lal Chauhan, 45, and Mukesh Jain, 32. They were each running one mobile accessory shop in Jagdish Market, which is a popular hub for mobiles, spare parts and electronic items.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team along with Abids police conducted simultaneous raids at four shops at Jagdish Market and apprehended four persons for selling fake Apple iPhone brand accessories. Police seized fake Apple brand mobile accessories worth Rs 2.42 crore.

Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle in 300,000 sticks of white cigarettes worth RM330,000 near Pos Rela, Pasir Mas.
General Operations Force Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the cigarettes were seized at 1 am yesterday during their Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan patrol.
The TEX brand cigarettes were kept in brown boxes hidden in a bushy area at an illegal base, he said in a statement today.
