Udaipur: Police from Pratap Nagar and Savina stations in Udaipur busted a counterfeit currency operation on Friday, seizing fake notes worth Rs 36.70 lakh in Rs 500 denominations. Police arrested seven individuals, including the mastermind, and also seized printing equipment such as photocopy machines, printers, and cutters.
P200M illicit cigarettes seized in QC, Caloocan warehouses
Some P200 million worth of illicit cigarettes were seized by authorities in two different raids in Grace Park West, Caloocan City and Balingasa, Quezon City on Thursday night.
Joint forces from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Philippine National Police confiscated around 1.3 million cigarette packs—some carrying fake tax stamps and others with no stamps at all.
BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said they have yet to trace the source of the contraband cigarettes.

Mumbai: The Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB) (I) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH), Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai, has successfully intercepted and seized approximately 57,02,400 sticks of Foreign Origin Cigarettes worth Rs 11.40 crore imported from Dubai. The consignment, consisting of 40-footer container, was falsely declared as “Gipsam Plaster Board” and destined to ICD Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, officials said on Wednesday.
Police raid on Camden High Street uncovers over 1,000 counterfeit designer bags
Three people have been arrested and a shop has been emptied of around 2,700 counterfeit designer bags, watches, sunglasses and belts during a police raid on Camden High Street.
The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) at City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police Service’s Camden Town Centre team raided the shop on 3 September 2024.
Three men, aged 24, 25 and 30 years, were arrested on suspicion of distributing articles infringing trademarks and money laundering offences.
Five bootleggers arrested with seizure of 115 litre duplicate IMFL
Rourkela: At a time when the state government has launched a crackdown on illicit liquor trade across the state in the wake of hooch deaths in Ganjam, Rourkela Excise Department Thursday seized 115 litres of duplicate Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and arrested five persons in this regard. Besides, the Excise sleuths have seized one auto-rickshaw, one bike, one scooter and mobile phones of the persons involved in the illegal trade.
Excise sources said the contraband was being brought from Jharkhand. The department did not reveal the identity of the five accused in the case.

Three arrested with fake Indian currency notes in Bihar
Motihari :Three persons were arrested on Thursday and fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs 2 lakh seized from their possession near the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s East Champaran district, police said.
The three accused hail from Sugauli near the international border, a police officer said.
Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra said, “Police have seized fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 1.95 lakh from the possession of three arrested persons.” The officer, however, did not reveal the identity of the accused and said they might be part of an international syndicate smuggling fake Indian currency.
Expired food items, cosmetics worth Rs 1.25 crore seized in Thane district
Thane, Sep 3 (PTI) Police have seized expired food items, cosmetics and other products worth more than Rs 1.25 crore during a raid in Bhiwandi in the district, an official said on Tuesday. The products were past their sell-by date and posed health risk to consumers, he said. The raid was conducted at a warehouse at Sagar complex, Narpoli, on Monday.
Two employees of a private firm were allegedly found replacing expiry date stickers on the goods which were supposed to be destroyed, as per the official. The total value of the seized material was Rs 1,25,86,026, he said.
R2.5-million worth of counterfeit goods seized in Bredell
Officers from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) conducted an intelligence-driven operation at a plot in Bredell on August 29.
The multi-disciplinary team confiscated counterfeit goods and machinery to an estimated value of R2.5m. The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit in Johannesburg received information, which was operationalized with the assistance of teams from the SAPS’ national counterfeit unit, border police from OR Tambo International Airport and various brand holders.
Misbranded cigarette worth Rs 15cr. Seized
Chennai: In two separate cases, directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) sleuths have seized nearly one crore misbranded cigarettes of an Indian brand worth 15 crore smuggled from Thailand and Dubai in ships.
The cigarettes had been imported with a false declaration as consumables (wafers) and were to be distributed as original cigarettes for retail sale across the country, said DRI sources.
