VIJAYAWADA: Officers from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) (Preventive) team in Guntur Commissionerate uncovered an illegal cigarette smuggling operation on Thursday, seizing Indian-made cigarettes worth Rs 50 lakh. Acting on specific intelligence, the Anti-evasion wing intercepted a vehicle at Nudurupadu village in Phirangapuram mandal. The accused were found transporting a large consignment of Indian-origin cigarettes, falsely declared on the invoice as safety matches valued at Rs 2.77 lakh. “Upon inspection, 46 poly bags containing 11.04 lakh cigarette sticks from brands like GTPL Step and Gold Vimal were found. The driver could not provide the required documentation,” said Guntur CGST Commissioner Sadhu Narasimha Reddy.
Four arrested with fake currency: Police
Jaipur, Oct 27 (PTI) Rajasthan Police has arrested four people for allegedly possessing fake currency notes in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, officials said.
The four, along with a minor, were held when they were travelling in a car with Madhya Pradesh number plate on Saturday night. Fake notes with face value of Rs 5,400 were found in their possession, they said.

Illegal unit making counterfeit cigarettes busted; cops seize stock, machine worth ₹5 crore
Navi Mumbai: The crime branch officials of the Raigad police on Thursday busted a makeshift unit that manufactured fake Gold Flake cigarettes in a Karjat farmhouse and arrested 15 men working at the site after seizing the stock and machinery worth ₹5 crore from the unit.
The police said they have launched a manhunt to trace the main accused, an Andhra Pradesh native, who had set up the unit. Based on a specific tip-off, the police team reached the farmhouse.

Perak Customs Dept seizes RM2.8mil worth of illicit liquor
IPOH: An attempt to smuggle liquor worth RM2.8mil into the country to avoid paying taxes was thwarted by the authorities recently.
The Perak Customs Department had seized the illicit hard liquor of various brands at three separate locations, one in Kuala Lumpur and two other raids conducted in Ipoh.

Police seized fake Apple brand mobile accessories worth Rs 2.42 crore.

Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle in 300,000 sticks of white cigarettes worth RM330,000 near Pos Rela, Pasir Mas.
General Operations Force Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the cigarettes were seized at 1 am yesterday during their Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan patrol.
The TEX brand cigarettes were kept in brown boxes hidden in a bushy area at an illegal base, he said in a statement today.

Malda: Police arrest person with fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 6.83 lakh
A team of Englishbazar police in Malda acted on a tip-off and arrested a person for carrying fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a face value of ₹6.83 lakh on Tuesday night.
Pradeep Kumar Yadav, the superintendent of police, said that based on source information, the team reached Susthani More, a crossing on NH12 on the outskirts of the town, on Tuesday night.
Bihar Liquor Smuggling: Police Nab One, Seize Six Motorcycles Loaded with 881 Litres of Alcohol in Ballia
Varanasi: Smugglers engaged in transporting liquor into dry state Bihar are now switching from four-wheelers to motorcycles to carry consignments across the border from districts like Ballia.
On Tuesday, Bairiya police intercepted six motorcycles and found them carrying 881.28 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor worth Rs 5.87 lakh, packed in 17 gunny bags.
Vehicle carrying fake fertiliser and disinfectant seized
Yadagiri: A significant haul of fake fertilizer and disinfectant was seized by Gogi police, who also recovered Rs. 2.26 lakh worth of illegal goods. The incident led to the arrest of the driver, identified as Syed Amin Saab Ukkali. The seizure occurred when a Tata ace vehicle, en route from Sindagi in Vijayapura district towards Chamanala, was intercepted by Gogi police officers. Acting on specific information, the police conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle and discovered a cache of counterfeit products.
