Police seized counterfeit ₹200 currency notes with a face value of ₹8.37 lakh from a car near Thuvakudi in Tiruchi district and arrested two persons from Maharashtra.
According to the police, a car bearing a Maharashtra registration number stopped at a petrol bunk in Thuvakudi late on Tuesday to refuel. The occupants paid the bill using ₹200 notes and left the spot. Suspecting the currency to be fake, petrol bunk staff alerted the Thuvakudi police.
Acting swiftly, the police intercepted the car at Kattur Manjathidal check-post and conducted a search. They found two bags containing 41 bundles of counterfeit ₹200 notes, totalling 4,189 notes.
