The Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) on Thursday said it has seized fake cosmetics worth Rs 71.5 lakh, which were manufactured without any government licence, from three premises in Surat, Gandhinagar and Junagadh districts of the state.
In Surat, a company was found manufacturing massage oils without any cosmetic licence, putting attractive and misleading labels on these products, and advertising them for sale, said officials. These products included “performance oil”, “stamina energy oil”, “bull massage oil for men”, and “lift up herbal massage oil”. The products were sold on popular online platforms, they said.
FDCA Commissioner Dr HG Koshia said that the residential premises of one Rajesh Dahya Lathia in Surat was raided and a large quantity of packing material and boxes of these duplicate products was found.
