Seminar on Proactive Approaches to Combat Counterfeiting and Smuggling
21st May 2025 | 02.30 PM – 6.00 PM | Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
FICCI CASCADE firmly believes that creating widespread awareness and fostering informed dialogue are essential in building a robust and proactive strategy to tackle the growing menace of counterfeiting and smuggling. These illicit activities not only undermine legitimate businesses and government revenues but also pose serious threats to consumer safety and national security. In line with this, FICCI CASCADE is organising a “Seminar on Proactive Approaches to Combat Counterfeiting and Smuggling” on 21st May 2025 at Hotel Hilton Garden Inn, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The seminar aims to serve as a vital platform to bring together key stakeholders—including policymakers, enforcement agencies, industry leaders, legal experts, and consumer rights advocates to deliberate on the far-reaching impact of smuggling and counterfeiting on the economy, public health, and consumer trust. By facilitating constructive discussions, the seminar seeks to not only highlight the gravity of the issue but also emphasize the shared responsibility of all sectors in addressing it. In doing so, we aspire to cultivate a culture of vigilance and responsibility among consumers, businesses, and regulatory authorities alike.
Through this initiative, FICCI CASCADE endeavours to encourage cross-sectoral collaboration, stimulate actionable insights, develop innovative and preventive strategies aimed at curbing these illicit trade practices.
Capacity Building Programme for Police Officers on Illicit Trade in India: Role of Police in Prevention and Prosecution
23rd May 2025 | Focus State: Kerala
Tackling counterfeiting and smuggling requires urgent and coordinated action, as these illegal activities continue to undermine public safety, destabilize the economy, and erode consumer trust. These forms of illicit trade not only rob governments of crucial tax revenues but also fund organized crime and endanger the well-being of citizens through substandard and potentially hazardous products. It is essential to consistently enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies to comprehend the gravity of the issue and take requisite actions against those responsible.
Although a robust legal framework exists, their implementation is pivotal in the battle against counterfeiting and smuggling. The police officers serve as frontline defenders in the fight against economic crimes, making their role indispensable in protecting national interests and ensuring a secure environment for legitimate business operations.
Recognizing this, FICCI CASCADE is organizing a specialized training program for police officers in Kerala on 23rd May 2025. This initiative is designed to raise awareness, build capacity, and foster a deeper understanding of the evolving patterns used in smuggling and counterfeiting. The programme aims to inspire collective resolve among law enforcement to dismantle these criminal networks and shield society from the corrosive effects of illicit trade.
