Dibrugarh: Police seized Rs 14,43,000 in counterfeit notes and arrested 2 persons involved in transporting the currency in Lakhimpur on Monday.The operation, conducted by the Banderdewa police outpost team under the leadership of DSP (Headquarters), resulted in the arrest of Rajibul Haque and Faizul Islam, who were caught transporting the fake currencies on a motorcycle through the Banderdewa area.
“We recovered 39 bundles of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of Rs 500 denomination, totalling Rs 14,43,000. The investigation is currently underway to trace the source and intended destination of these counterfeit notes,” Lakhimpur SSP Gunendra Deka said.Police seized two mobiles and the motorcycle being used to transport the notes.
