The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs on Tuesday arrested a duo for attempting to smuggle 1.5 kg of 24-karat gold dust worth Rs 2.1 crore at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Official stated that Alam allegedly admitted to carrying and smuggling the gold at the behest of an unknown person, while Bane reportedly confessed to receiving the gold in exchange for Rs 10,000.

Upon examination, officers recovered 24-karat gold dust concealed in wax, comprising of four pieces valued at approximately Rs 2.1 crore.
