The Border Security Force (BSF) carried out a successful operation in the Maluapara border outpost area of the 32 Battalion along the India–Bangladesh international border in Nadia district, West Bengal.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF personnel arrested two Indian smugglers, delivering a major blow to the gold smuggling network. During the operation, 510 grams of gold biscuits were seized, valued at approximately Rs. 67,37,100.
The troops received information that smugglers were planning to bring smuggled gold from Bangladesh into India through this area. Immediately, all troops were placed on high alert. The jawans spotted a suspicious person approaching the Indian side from Bangladesh, using bamboo bushes for cover. When challenged, the individual surrendered without resistance. A thorough search revealed two plastic-wrapped packets containing four gold biscuits. The suspect was arrested on the spot along with the seized gold.
