The Dwaraka Tirumala police on Saturday (June 7) arrested a three-member counterfeit currency note gang and a receiver. The police also recovered ₹65 lakh in fake currency notes and a car used by the gang.
The arrested have been identified as K. Ravi Teja, Sk. Nagur Meeravali and V. Rajesh, natives of Eluru district, and a hotel owner, K. Subramanyam of Dwaraka Tirumala, said Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore.
On a tip-off, the team led by Eluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar and Bhimadole Circle Inspector U.J. Wilson intercepted the gang while they were trying to exchange the fake currency notes with original cash.
