Three Myanmar nationals were booked after customs officers seized 2,158 grams of gold bars worth Rs 2.89 crore from them at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), officials said on Saturday.
The three male passengers, who reached Delhi from Yangon, Myanmar, on January 14, were intercepted by Airport Customs Preventive officers while crossing the green channel at the international arrival hall of Terminal-3, IGI Airport.
The three passengers have been placed under arrest under the provisions of Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is on to ascertain the larger smuggling network and the intended recipients of the contraband, officials added.
