Revenue has seized a major haul of contraband worth almost €570,000 across Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare and Waterford.
The seizures, carried out by Revenue officers over the last week, included cocaine, cannabis, cigarettes, counterfeit runners and even weapons – one of which was a samurai sword. Other confiscated weapons included “tactical gauntlets” with throwing knives, smoke generators, a hunting knife and a flick knife.
Counterfeit goods meanwhile included everything from fake Adidas runners to Ugg Boots, as well Chanel, Hugo Boss and Christian Dior perfume.
In Waterford, Kilkenny and the Midlands more 19,700 cigarettes, with a value of approximately €17,800, were seized, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €12,000. Almost 2kg of rolling tobacco, with a value of €1,715 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €1,200, was also taken.
