
Smuggled goods seized in Manipur border

Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles on Friday foiled cross border smuggling near Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district and seized goods worth Rs 60.7 lakhs.
Assam Rifles official said during a border domination patrol in the Manipur Myanmar border area, troops of Assam Rifles uncovered a large number of packages concealed in thick foliage in the forest. On thorough search of the packages, illegal goods including electronics, footwear and toys items were recovered.
The smuggled items were assessed to be worth Rs 60.7 Lakh. The recovered contraband items were handed over to the Customs Department, Moreh.
