Fake paneer, adulterated ghee, contaminated sweets and chemically coloured spices have emerged among the food products targeted in raids across India this year, as food safety authorities step up inspections ahead of the festive season.

From Maharashtra and Telangana to Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, recent enforcement operations have resulted in tonnes of food products being seized, destroyed or sent for laboratory testing.
