Mumbai: In a significant crackdown on counterfeit currency circulation, the Trombay Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Mohammad Samir Abdul Qadir Khan, a resident of A-Sector, M-Line, Cheetah Camp, Trombay. Police seized fake Indian currency notes worth Rs95,500 all in Rs500 denomination from his possession.
Acting on the information, a police team led by Senior Inspector Rajesh Shinde laid a trap at the location around 2 p.m. and apprehended Khan. A search of the accused resulted in the seizure of an OPPO mobile phone, Rs450 in cash, a driving license, and five bundles of fake Rs500 notes — totaling 191 counterfeit notes. All the items, including the fake currency and related documents, were seized by the police.
