The Vadodara Local Crime Branch (Zone-1) has seized a large consignment of foreign liquor worth ₹15.32 lakh that was being smuggled in a truck hidden beneath sacks of onions on the Ahmedabad–Vadodara National Highway (NH-48).

Police also confiscated the truck and other items, taking the total value of the seized material to ₹20.38 lakh. The truck driver has been arrested, while one person allegedly involved in supplying the liquor consignment has been declared wanted and a search operation has been launched to trace him.

Acting on specific inputs, the Local Crime Branch team, under the guidance of DCP Zone-1 Jagdish Chavda and as per instructions of PSI Mehul Bharwad, was conducting routine patrolling when information was received about the illegal consignment.
