The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, conducted a Search and Seizure operation on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, at a factory outlet in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, for violation of the BIS Act, 2016.
During the raid, officials seized 2,635 hand held blenders worth approximately ₹77 lakhs, which were found to be stored and offered for sale without the mandatory BIS Certification and Standard Mark. These products fall under IS 302(part 2/Section 14), made mandatory by the Government of India through a Quality Control Order (QCO) with effect from 1st May 2019, to ensure the safety of users in household settings.
The absence of BIS certification is not only a violation of the law but also poses serious safety risks to consumers. The operation was conducted under the direction of Shri P.V. Srikanth, Director and Head, BIS Hyderabad, and was led by Joint Director Smt. Sujatha and Deputy Director Shri Kavin.
