Udupi: The Shirva police have arrested one more person in connection with the June 27 theft reported in a house and recovered gold ornaments and an ingot weighing over 248 grams, worth Rs 22.32 lakhs.
The accused has been identified as KE Mohammed. The arrest followed an investigation into a house break-in, wherein miscreants had decamped with gold jewellery worth over Rs 12 lakh.
Udupi SP Hariram Shankar said that a theft had taken place at the residence of Pavitra Poojarthi located on Mattaru Road in Shirva village. While she and her son were asleep, miscreants broke open the window hooks and forcefully opened the door latch using an iron rod to gain entry into the house. They decamped with 137 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 12.75 lakh.
