On 18 August, Karnataka’s Food Safety and Drugs Administration (FSDA) Drug Enforcement Wing and police raided a farmhouse in Kurubara Karenahalli, near the Bidadi toll gate. Officials allegedly found an unlicensed unit where medicines were being repackaged and relabelled. The seized medicines, equipment and other material were valued at approximately Rs. 4.91 crore. Four people were arrested.
Some of the seized medicines were injectable broad-spectrum antibiotics used to treat serious bacterial infections. Investigators are now trying to determine whether any suspected counterfeit medicines entered the pharmaceutical supply chain.
